# Something is happening to my long awaited for Stella… I have…

_Publié par Lynda le 2025-04-06_

Something is happening to my long awaited for Stella… I have absolutely no idea what this is, or why it’s happened. The cream colored parts on her leaves feel sort of crunchy, not the soft green of a leaf you would normally feel. However, she has been in a south facing window this winter, but we live in Oregon… where the sun don’t shine much! Since this is a fairly recent problem, and it is getting warmer here, could she be too warm sitting on the windowsill? I’ve seen temps in the low 80s upon occasion, but that’s not very often since we usually have cloud cover. So, I’ve haven’t seen any pests, she is watered and fertilized properly, and humidity levels stay around 50%+… IDK! Do any of you? TIA!
PS. I wish we had feel a text… 🤭!

Are you using clean water? Either distilled or filtered? I’ve been wanting a Stella for a while now but haven’t figured out where to put one. So beautiful 🤩

Ya calatheas don’t like tap water.

Yes, our house water is all filtered, so I don’t think that could be the problem. Any other ideas? TIA!

Well if you know the water is ok then it’s probably a sunburn. They don’t tolerate any direct sun on their leaves.

☹️… you’re probably right, because she was in a south facing window. I made the mistake of thinking that Oregon’s overcast weather wouldn’t harm her. I’ve switched her to an eastern facing window that just gets some morning sun; I hope that will help. TXS for your comment!
