I got a new plant! I’m pretty sure it’s some kind of jade plant. It has some black spots that are concerning me a little bit, does anyone know what those are and how to treat them? Thanks!

You’ve got a Crassula ovata there. I had these exact things on a jade I recent bought. I scraped them off and saw that it left an indent, like if you were picking a scab. I felt good that it wasn’t scale and the spot calloused up and no more have come up. I wouldn’t worry, but keep an eye on things to see if more begin to appear. It could have been a little bit of edema from too much moisture damaging some cell tissue here and there.

Actually, out of my own paranoia, I’ll add that I did take a qtip soaked in 70% isopropyl alcohol and go over the whole plant to give it a bit of a clean after the spots I picked off scabbed over.
