Yes. But you can also let it trail if you want. It also doesn’t HAVE to be a moss pole, but something for it to climb will make it happy for sure.

Would it be less happy being left to trail? I’m curious since I also have one that is still fairly juvenile. Trying to decide what to do with it as it grows.

It won’t be any less happy, it just might produce a little bit larger leaves if you use a moss pole/let it climb.

Its more of an esthetic choice really :)

I have mine on a cheap moss pole from Amazon and it loves it! I thought about letting it trail but I’ve definitely noticed I’ve got bigger leaves and more fenestrations per leaf since I’ve had the moss pole. 😌

i wouldn’t recommend a moss pole or stake type support for this plant. you would need several. trellises are perfect for bushy plants with lots of stems like yours, and will help provide lots of support for the plant as it matures. plus, trellises can easily be changed to a larger one if the plant outgrows it, since the roots won’t grow into the metal or wood like a moss pole. you can also prune and propagate once it reaches the top of the trellis to make it fuller.

if you decide to trellis the plant, it’s beneficial to adjust the stems so they’re all facing the same way. monstera have a face (leaves) and back (aerial roots)
