# I need help with my monstera standleyana! 😩 He’s just super lanky,…

I need help with my monstera standleyana! 😩 He’s just super lanky, and looks kinda funny. I was thinking I could cut the vine and prop (need to do more research about that though). He’s got some yellowing, he’s right under a grow light and his pot doesn’t drain, so maybe I overwatered? I think a repot with drain holes? Any tips? 🙏🏼🌿🥰

Definitely needs more light! Also only water when dry. I use a bamboo skewer… I gently stick it to the bottom of the soil and if it comes out dry, I water. Also for sure I would recommend drainage. Ah but I see you have it under a grow light? How long has it been there? I would start with a new pot with drainage!

Yes, he is directly under a grow light (right in this hole here)! So I wonder if I repot him with drainage, and maybe secure him to the moss pole better so he can climb?

Also yes others might have different opinions, but I would definitely cut the vine and propagate it.

Yeah, because the stuff coming out of the pot looks healthy… I think it’ll be just fine, just needs a little help. 😀

He has a whole new shoot and a little mushroom! 😂 I researched and it said that’s a good sign? That it was healthy!

Drainage for sure - mine got leggy now it sits by a window and it’s getting a lot of new growth closer in. I’d cut the leggy stuff off and propagate then pot it up with later. Get it to actual light source and all the above and it will come back strong. Only water every 15-20 days with a good watering also but must have drainage.
