Most of mine are a foot or less from my window

What kind of light is your window? I have my Brasil \& heart leaf literally in the window still of a north facing window and both my varieties are very happy. My other philodendrons (PPP, ring of fire, and white princess) are right outside the window on my kitchen counter in east facing. All my philodendrons are happy. Really, I think it depends on the light.

it’s pretty indirect south facing and then i have another west facing window

What I have done with my south facing for plants that don’t like lots of sun is put it right below the window sill. That way they don’t get scorched by the constant direct sunlight, but they still get plenty of light to thrive. I have some on a shoe cabinet, and they are happy. You could probably put it on a side of your west facing (whichever gets less direct light) too and be fine. Some plants that don’t love sun love it for bursts. I have an east facing that I do that with and they love it.

Philodendrons usually like part sun, so west fits that description, especially if your plant is reaching.

I have one in my kitchen that only receives light from my under cabinet lightstrip. It's doing very well 😊

it’s a trailing plant so it will always look like it’s growing toward the light. maybe get a trellis to provide some support if you want it to look a certain way.

It depends on the direction of the window and the intensity of the light. Filtered light through sheer curtains is better and the plant can survive in any window. Gradually move it closer until it gets used to the brighter light. The plant will continue to grow small leaves or stop growing leaves until it gets sufficient light.
