Do you guys think this humidifier is going to be doing too much? My apartment is soooo dry especially this time of year. I have 2 monstera, an orchid, pilea, alocasia, fiddle leaf fig, and a velvet calathea. Let me know if I should move it farther away or maybe turn the nozzle a different direction. I’ve had it like this for a while and the plants seem happy, but I just did some reorganizing and saw the stands were quick wet with condensation.

Thanks!

It probably is a little too much, it’s my understanding that most plants don’t want their leaves to be wet all of the time. It’s also a bit dependent on your overall set up/humidity/light, etc.

I would recommend getting a humidity reader, so you can know what the actual humidity level is.

For my humidifier set ups I either use a humidifier that has an intermittent setting, or a use a timer that turns the humidifier on and off. I found for my space (also really dry in winter) that running a humidifier constantly was just too much.

Gotcha, the tank is pretty small so it’s not constantly going, but I’ll turn it down a little bit and move it farther away. I haven’t really seen any water on the leaves, only on the tables.

Yeah you’ll have to play around with it and see what works! Generally if it’s putting out enough to condensate on things, it’s probably not balanced well.
I have two different types of humidifiers and different rooms that I run on different schedules. The timers are also nice so you don’t have to fill it as frequently and you’re not going back and forth between too humid and too dry.
Ultimately up to you and what works for your plants!

Thank you! I actually do have an extra outlet timer from a 2 pack I got for my aquarium!

your monstera will tell you if it’s too much, it will “cry” aka guttation. keep an eye out. otherwise, it’s trial and error. watch the color of your leaves too.
