I have my self watering pots entered as a plastic pot and just top up the water in the bottom when it says to water so far it’s working pretty good basically just using as a reminder to check the water level if it’s fine I skip it.

Do you ever let them dry out? I’ve read that can be a trick also do you just add your fertilizer to the reservoir?

They’ve gotten pretty low before because I was being lazy but I don’t let them dry out, I don’t think the plants I have in self watering pots are ones that like to dry out between if they are they haven’t been upset they just draw up the amount of water they want
and yes I fertilize the water in the bottom with foliagepro

Thank you so much for your response I feel like I’m doing it right 😀

I’ve heard that it’s best to let plants in self watering pots dry out before refilling the reservoir, or at least wait until the plant is showing signs of thirst. Most plants like to dry out at least a little bit, and it prevents root rot.

That’s what I think too!

I let all of my plants dry out almost completely before watering them; self watering pot or not. I even let my reservoirs dry up with the plants on Pon.

Great! Thank you! Eased my mind about leaving for a week too!

They're much more harder than we give them credit for. And super resilient
