# Hello! I'm newer to house plants and hoping to get some…

Hello! I'm newer to house plants and hoping to get some recommendations for moderately easy indoor plants that don't take up too much space (or where the size can be managed). It doesn't need to be a tiny plant, just something that doesn't have a huge spread or can be kept at a certain size by pruning. If it can fit on a 5" windowsill and tolerates direct sun, I do have northwest and northeast windows I could use. If it likes bright indirect light and doesn't mind being several feet or more from my northwest windows, I have plenty of space on my various bookshelves. I really love anything variegated (who doesn't) and interesting patterns like on calatheas (though I've heard these can be drama queens). I am big on orchids so I'm not entirely new to plants in general, and I think I can handle both beginner level plants and maybe like whatever level is just above beginner lol. I do have a tendency to overwater, so plants that are more forgiving is a plus. For reference, I currently have about 20 orchids, a ring of fire philodendron, a thai constellation monstera, a dieffenbachia camilla, a golden pothos, two coleus, and a persian shield. I'm sure some of those aren't within my parameters (just loved them too much to pass up) but hoping to avoid continuing to get a bunch of plants that aren't suited to my space or that will end up getting too big for me to find a spot for. Thanks in advance!

for low light, check out cebu blue pothos, air plants / tillandsia, and heartleaf philo. high light, possibly a succulent of sorts? echeveria and jade plants are pretty nice beginner succulents, put if you're looking for something prettier, there's lots of different kinds

Get a grow light and you can put the plant anywhere in the room. Get a reliable brand like Sansi or Barrina. Easy care plants are hoya varieties: Heuschkeliana, Lacunosa, Krohniana, Carnosa, Fungii, Krinkle 8, Obovata and Elliptica will do well in chunky coconut husk soil under grow lights. The chunky coconut husk soil is difficult to overwater because of all the air pockets. Others are spider plants, ponytail palm, night blooming cactus and orchid cactus.

Hoyas are pretty easy and require alot of light they are very slow growing, most of them.. string of hearts and string of pearls are small and would love sitting on a windowsill.
