( same plant in both photos)
Hi everyone! I recently rescued this Monstera and repotted her, and now I’m trying to figure out where she’ll be happiest.

I’m debating between keeping her indoors or outdoors.

Indoors, the temperature is more stable, but the light is definitely lower.

Outdoors, she gets much brighter light overall, including direct morning sun from about 8–10 AM, followed by bright indirect light for the rest of the day. I’m in San Diego, where temperatures are currently around 76–80°F (24–27°C) during the day and around 65–68°F (18–20°C) at night.

Do you think the brighter outdoor spot would be better for her, or would the more stable indoor environment be preferable after being recently rescued and repotted?

I’d love to hear what you would choose and why, especially if you grow Monsteras in a similar climate.

I would worry about the bright direct light outdoors. They love a ton of bright light but it needs to be indirect so they don't burn.

I always advocate for outdoor if possible. I have seen how a plant will come alive with fresh air and rainwater. Sounds like your weather is perfect for patio plants

When I put my monstera outdoors she got terribly sunburnt. It took a year for her to really look better. :(

She wasn’t even in direct sun for very long at all. An east facing covered patio pulled under the canopy. Sensitive girlie.

At this time of year I would keep your monsteras inside the only time they are ok to be outside is in very early spring when the sun isn’t so bright. I would get a grow light for inside so she can grow all winter! Good luck
