Use an aroid or other well-draining soil and be sure to water with distilled, filtered, or rain water. If you mist, also use distilled water. Because there's so much white in the leaves you'll want bright indirect light.

alright thanks so much! does a southeast/east facing window work?

#### KJM replied on 2025-02-28

The southeast / East window sounds fine as long as it's not getting direct sun from the south.

Beautiful! Mine just went away. The spider mites overwhelmed me 😭

spider mites are my biggest opp 💔

Water whenever the leaves begin to droop or you notice the soil is dry. I’ve also found that this calathea doesn’t care about minerals in the water like other ones do, however I might’ve just gotten lucky with mine

Maybe you have really good water! Mine does not like my tap water.

Definitely not lol. I’m in Maryland so my tap water is fullllll of calcium. Have to wipe the excess off my pot rims constantly. But mine is in coco peat so I imagine it’s not hanging onto more water than it needs like regular potting soil, so maybe that limits its exposure to the minerals
