Humidity possibly, but if those crispy dark spots mostly appear of the light areas of variegation, I might need less direct light. Sun can burn the pale part easiest.  
Sorry, it’s a little hard to tell from just that picture.

Those a finicky. They do not like tap water. I use rain water, bottled water, or sometimes I treat the water before giving them a drink. Took me awhile to get it right but now they’re doing great. Good luck!
