I just want to say I am so dang tired of thrips. Just when I think I got them, they show up and ruin another batch of pretty innocent leaves. I recently treated with beneficial nematodes and it’s too early to tell if they’ll work, but I just found damage on my monstera Thai con prop 😮‍💨 I really would like to sell/trade/share my props but I feel like I’ll never be able to again if I can’t kick these thrips. What am I going to do when my plants outgrow my space? Throw away spare plants? I would hate that 😖 I reaaalllyyy hope the beneficial nematodes break the cycle 🤞

Been there! Maybe still there! Feel EXACTLY the same. It’s so frustrating! I’m not even sure which plant brought them in. Learned my lesson about making sure to quarantine new plants. I’ve been battling since late summer early fall. My Fishbone prayer plant and Makoyana calathea, Stromanthe and Rattlesnake plants seem to show the most signs of ongoing damage. It’s heartbreaking.

Just cover the leaves in DE, I had a bad case as well. It kicked them in two weeks!

Oh yea sorry, diatomaceous earth it’s powder of fossilized krill. Buy food grade too, it means it’s harder for them to put fillers in. The shape of the granules is similar to shards, so when bugs touch it the little shards stab them and dehydrate them ultimately killing them. I killed of a bad infection on my collection using this method, within two weeks there wasn’t a thrip in sight. When you put it on the leaves make sure you are wearing a dust mask and gloves. It can be dangerous to your lungs, just put some on your gloved hands and gently rub it on every leaf, top and bottom. I would leave it on for two or three weeks and cover any new leaves with DE as well. You can buy it online or at some health stores ( people eat it, why I don’t know 🤷🏼‍♀️) I hope this helps! Best of wishes!
