# I’ve read and seen in videos that some people go exclusively leca…

I’ve read and seen in videos that some people go exclusively leca because it’s less messy than soil. I’d obviously do plant-specific research before converting, but anyone else out there who is all-leca?

What are the pros and cons of a primarily leca approach?

I've seen a couple of people go to all leca for several reasons. Most because of gnats or other soil born pests or fungi. I have some of my collection in leca or pon. But there's quite a few plants kinda own that it's not an option, or I just prefer them in soil/media. The biggest thing I've found is nutrients. Since the leca/pon has zero nutrients you need to constantly supply it, or your plant will start to stunt.

I've also found with alocasia that corm production is a bit different, and not quite as abundant. But if you don't care about that, it'd be a non-issue

Great point to consider! Thanks!

I've had some plants in leca for a while. Although it wasn't a problem at the beginning, I got tired of it in the end. With leca, you have to wash and replace the water every 2 weeks or so (and the container too, some buildup will show) , then re-arranging then back again. And yes, you to keep with their vitamins. I find it easier having them on soil just so they get really established. That's just my experience, lol.

PS: I rather have them on all water than with leca, I find it a breeze.
