Anyone know what's happening here? I've gone from watering every 4 days to watering every week as per the app and this has happened in the last week (I used to use a different app and changed to this one as it's Al based so adjust on weather etc

look like not enough humidity this is what happened to mine and it sadly died. i suggest covering it with a clear cup to increase humidity if you don’t have a humidifier. And to direct the plant’s energy to the still alive leaves you should cut the dead off. hope this helps 😁👍

Hi there, this looks like an aglaonema, would that be right? I have several suggestions! As the other poster said, those leaves aren’t going to revive so I took would chop them off around the base of the leaf.

Next, watering every 4 days (and potentially even weekly) sounds like way too often for this plant. I have about 10 different aglaonema plants and find them all to be relatively slow drinkers. Whether it’s Planta or other apps, they simply can’t be relied upon to tell you exactly when a plant needs watering. There are too many factors about the plant and its environment that the app simply doesn’t have access to. Watering reminders are helpful but you really still need to be sticking your finger deep into the soil to check how moist the soil is. I find these babies are ok to dry out or nearly dry out between waterings.

One thing I would probably do is repot this plant into an aerated soil. This will help with watering issues by preventing cloggy soil that holds onto too much moisture. A basic mix would be 75% potting soil and 25% perlite. Perlite effectively provides aeration to your substrate. You can also add in coco chips and orchid bark. If you google aroid mix recipes, they’re all generally variations of the same thing and are great for these plants. Chunkier mixes are also much easier to stick your finger into to check the moisture of the substrate.

When repotting, aim to pot into a pot with drainage holes and one that gives you about 1-1.5 inches of space all around the root ball.

I hope that helps! Best of luck 🌿🌿🌿

Sounds like too much water. I would get a moisture meter and use that. You can get one on amazon for like 15 bucks. Get the 12 inch one if you have larger plants with big pots. That’s been my saving grace. I find that Planta has the watering schedule a little too frequently for all the plants. That’s why the moisture meter helps, you can snooze the reminder and eventually plants with learn to extend the period between waterings.

I would remove all the dead leaves and check for root rot. Watering even weekly is a lot for most plants, plants likes to send lots of water alerts but it's not always what is best for the plant.
