I don’t have any in semi-hydro but I’ve heard that lots of people love keeping their syngoniums in pon/leca.

I also don’t own an alocasia but I think they would do well with the added moisture

Yes I love my syngonium in semi hydro the dry out too easy in soil and always die for me so I switched mine and I love it

My syngonium is small — just cuttings from a friend in March — but it’s going quite well in leca. I’ve heard/seen alocasia \*really\* thrive in semi-hydro

Be VERY gentle with the alocasia on the transfer. The roots are very delicate. You very well might lose a leaf or two in the transfer but if you ride it out I think it will be worth it moving forward

I have all my alocasias in pin \& they love it! I never thought to do that with my Syngoniums so I might have to do that next .

I moved all my alocasias to fluval stratum and it’s going great! Eatyacarbs is right- losing a leaf or two is pretty typical when transferring. I also have some philodendron el choco and melanochrysum babies in stratum and they’re loving it too!

Ooh I have some fluval as well.. maybe I’ll pretend I’m doing an experiment for a science fair and put one in each medium and see which ones live!!

Haha we will be expecting a full presentation of your findings (tri-fold posterboard and all 😂)

I’m currently growing a corm, it’s been in sphagnum and then semi-hydro. I’ve noticed you’re always going to get more foliage focus when you put your plants in leca. Needless to say the corm has show much more significant growth than when it was in soil. I plan on moving all of my alos to leca and I do want to try pon
