# Good morning everyone! I have a question about how to fertilize…

Good morning everyone! I have a question about how to fertilize plants. I have a Miracle Grow liquid fertilizer that says I can fertilize one of two ways: either by using one squirt directly into the soil or putting 4 squirts into a watering can. If I do the watering can choice, won’t that be watering the plant ahead of schedule?

You wanna make sure the plant needs watering first. If the soil is too wet, wait a little. But when I fertilize, I’m replacing my watering with the fertilizer if you’re using any form of liquid fertilizer

I use two watering cans. One is water and one is water with fertilizer. Fertilizer task counts as a watering task. So if you decide to squirt the fertilizer directly into the soil, then you will need to water it also.

When using liquid fertilizer, fertilizing counts as watering so if you do it outside of your typical watering schedule, which I wouldn’t recommend anyway, you will have to adjust said schedule.

Sometimes Planta will tell you to fertilize the day after watering, or something dumb like that. If that happens, snooze the fertilize task until the soil dries out and then fertilize. As mentioned above, don’t squirt fertilizer onto dry soil.
