Does she need to be repotted? I just repotted her about six months ago. Should I divide her into two plants?

Looks beautiful. Yes you can split, happy multiplying 🙃

### eatyacarbs kommenterte den 2024-08-10

GORGEOUS! I’d leave it! It won’t hurt to split if you want more plants but oh my gosh it’s SO big and beautiful 🤩

### Evil Plant Dad kommenterte den 2024-08-10

The plant likes to be a bit root bound so no rush on repotting. Just dont get to the point you have to break the pot off 🤣

I’ve heard of Zz rhizomes busting terra cotta/ceramics with no intervention 😂

Gorgeous!!! From what I understand ZZ plants kind of do this - little to no growth for months or years, then a ton of growth in a short period of time. I would listen to the plant and repot! I’d also definitely divide it unless you want to have a tree sized ZZ plant in your house (which would be cool AF, actually).
I can’t post the URL but google Jack Wallington Dividing ZZ Plants for a useful article on it

I have five small ZzZz plants, but I didn’t recognize yours as a ZzZz. My eyes almost fell out of my head when I realized what your plant was. Holy moly, how long have you had that plant? I just showed the picture of your plant to my husband and he said we’re gonna have to buy a new house if ours are going to grow like that! Great picture and a beautiful plant. Congrats! 🤗💚🪴

Haha! I’ve had her for 14 months. She was 1/3 the size when I got her. Maybe 1/4 the size.

Magnificent ZZ! What’s your secret? 🤫 😉

I have no idea. I’m not great with most plants but ZZ plants and snake plants like me.

I have a question for you and I’m sure you can help me; how often do you water your very large ZzZz plant? My ZzZz is very small compared to yours; she’s only in a 7 inch pot at the moment. I only water her once every 60 days, which confounds me, although I know they don’t need much water and I can’t water her until she’s dry, dry, dry! I keep waiting for her leaves to look dry, but so far, I haven’t seen that yet. Since we have a ZzZz bond, I thought you might tell me about your plants watering habits.
Also, I’ve planted one of her root balls (???), and I am wondering how long it will take that root to sprout, (if it ever does!) It’s been in a pot for about two months, and the other day, thinking it was dead, I threw it out into the garden. Lo and behold, that root was growing some roots! I was delighted, but now I’m wondering if and when I’ll ever see something green poke through the soil???
TIA for any tips you might care to send… 🤗💚🪴

I think she needs more light. I water every 3-4 weeks. I let them get really dry and then I drown them. I make sure the water can drain really well. I also add a little fertilizer about every other time I water them. I use filtered water that I mostly try to let sit for a few hours before I water them but I’m not always consistent with that.

Here is my raven zz. She is similar to yours. I’ve had her about a year and she’s growing much slower than my other one. She might need more light.

Yes, she looks very much like my ZzZz plant; aren’t they so pretty?! I wonder if the raven variety is just slower growing than the green one??? It would be nice to know, wouldn’t it? Thanks, again, for your post; I really do appreciate it!

Thanks for your return comments! Tell me, how do you check to see how dry your ZzZz is? Do you use a wooden stake, moisture meter, or just feel the heft of the pot? I use all three, and still my plant doesn’t appear to be ready to be watered for about 60 days; I wonder if I am not watering frequently enough? ZzZzs are supposed to be great in darker areas of your home. You mentioned sunlight, is yours in full sun, or what? Maybe that is why mine has not progressed as rapidly as yours??? TIA or any forthcoming comments.

My big girl is right in the window so she gets morning sun. The little raven is not getting much sunlight so I might move her. I don’t put my ZZs or snake plants in dark areas. I give them almost the same light as everyone else.

#### Lynda svarte den 2024-08-19

That’s a surprise to me; I guess I’ll have to move my ZzZz to a sunnier spot. Thanks for the heads up!

You can tell when they’re dry as a bone. The pot is light. I use Planta’s schedule. Maybe yours would dry out faster with a little more light.

#### Lynda svarte den 2024-08-19

I’m sure you’re right; the more light they get, the faster they’ll dry out. I’ll put that to the test since I will be moving my ZzZz to a sunnier location like you suggested. Thanks again for all your help! May we be ZzZz sisters, forever…😉

PS. I’m being a bit nosy, but how did you get the name SisaLis? It’s quite pretty and rather unusual; is there a story behind it? Just curious… Nice chatting with you!
