That’s mostly likely overwatering issue if you are doing it every week. Don’t put your plants on a schedule, always test your soil before watering or use a soil meter. Since you’re a new plant mom I would say consider putting your plants in a self watering pot and let the plant drink up the water when it wants. I would check the tray of the self watering pot once a week to see if it’s in need of a refill

Thank you this is a plant community. I don’t need anyone mothering me. I’m an adult with children — have a good week ahead of you Abby :D

Also I would make sure that pot has good drainage in it if you don’t chose to go to a self watering system. A terracotta clay pot would be better or a nursery pot.
