# My aunt wants to go plant shopping with me. She wants more plants…

My aunt wants to go plant shopping with me. She wants more plants because she loves how they look in and outside of her house, but she is so bad with them (she knows this and has said it herself). Any indoor and outdoor recommendations? Succulents are off the table (she can’t stop killing them). Thanks!

for indoor I would recommend zz plant if she wants smth thats rlly hardy. pothos and Chinese evergreen is also good but less hardy than a zz. for outdoor it’s dependent on the hardiness zone of where u live

for flowering plants I would recommend kalanchoes

Thank you so much! She lives in Southern California, so she’s not about to get very intense weather at her house 😂 Hopefully many different plants could work there

it’s hard to say specific plants that would work there bc there’s a lot! honestly prob just anything tropical 🤷

Recommend the Planta app! 😆 🤣 i agree a ZZ or snake plant might be ideal.

Haha exactly, if she kills succulents then she might be an overwaterer 😬😂

She’s definitely an over waterer 😂 I wouldn’t say she’s forgetful but she doesn’t differentiate her care between different plants (so she’ll treat an echeveria the same as a pothos for example lol)

Maybe a fern. She could put it in one of those little glass green houses. And basically keep it as wet as she wants 😆 my tiger boston never gets dry. Wiping the glass down will also give her something to do.

Maybe get her a dead stick plant. She won't know the difference if it croaks. I constantly question mine

Cast iron plant or a tradescantia! I have a boat lily that multiplies like crazy and thrives on almost nothing. I forget about mine all the time and they can be bone dry and still stand at attention.
