# I have been looking for a Prince of Orange Philodendron plant for a…

I have been looking for a Prince of Orange Philodendron plant for a while now. So imagine my excitement when I went to the grocery store today and found a display of them in the florist department. I quickly found the best looking one and adopted it (or did I rescue it?). When I got it home I realized that it has a few roots coming out of the top of the pot and it actually slip out of the pot quite easily. Is it too soon to repot it? I don't want to shook it too much.

If I have a pot and it needs repotting I usually don't worry about repotting right away. Usually tho I don't have a pot and it ends up being several weeks😏 but I think you could repot right away

Such a good find 😍 I miss my PoO 🥲 You can definitely repot! I usually do within a couple of days. It gives me an opportunity to rinse the whole plant off and check for root rot and pests. Especially with grocery store plants. For me, they’ve always got something wrong with them.

I am a new plant parent, so excuse this question. But do you remove all the dirt from the roots when trans potting or just leave it in the dirt it is in and add fresh soul around it?

If the roots look healthy and the soil isn’t too water retentive (philo’s like a chunkier mix) then you definitely don’t have to remove all the soil. Your plant will also go into less shock after repotting!

Unfortunately, I lost my philo recently. It didn’t last after repotting. It was a McConnley’s Finale which is similar to the Orange.
