Pretty sure those are aerial roots. Sometimes it means the succulent needs more moisture - humidity or watering.

Those roots are normal for this plant. Your plant needs lots of very bright light. Mine was troublesome for a while but is doing great (at least I think so) for now. You can see the mass of aerial roots on the stem of mine.
