For plants that you keep in water indefinitely (with fertilizer of course), how big of a container do you need in relation to the roots? For reference I have a peace lily prop (just one piece/root thing) that I decided I’m going to leave in water. I kept up sizing her when it seemed like her roots needed more space. Finally I just left her to grow into this one vase and she seems to be doing better sprouting new luscious growth quicker than she did before. I figured maybe she’s focusing on new leaves rather than roots now?

I feel with water you can get away with a lot smaller spaces. I keep mine quite tight and they’re happy.

I actually just cut a bunch of my monstera roots off because I wanted to downsize the vase and its already putting out new leaves.

Oh nice! I had trimmed off some of the tips of the roots because they were brown I guess from reaching outside the water and it seemed she was happier. I may try that again! 😃

You’re always going to have a minor amount of roots rotting when its in water. But I mean VERY minor amount. I rinse and trim anything dead every time I change the water.

Mine is 10x easier to care for since I switched to water :)

Their roots will be brown above the water line. But if they’re full and hard then their fine. If they’re shriveled, mushy, etc. then trim them off.

my propagations don’t care and I have many of them. I usually use glass bottles because the hold stays much longer. also, I really recommend slow release fertilizer pellets. Instead of instantly just shocking your plants with fertilizer, it gives nutrients over time, and I noticed so much new growth. Anyways, my plants don’t seem to care, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much
