# Hi so yesterday I bought my first ever string of hearts now currently…

_Postat av Amy den 2024-08-12_

Hi so yesterday I bought my first ever string of hearts now currently it’s on the windowsill but I want to eventually mount it on the wall but the thing is I’m in a flat with windows only really on one side and there’s no wall space in front of windows just next to them so I know it says part sun/part shade but would it be ok without any direct access to sunlight? Thank you 🖤

This is where I have my two string of hearts. They’re near a window (on the left out of frame) that’s covered with a sheer white curtain. They primarily get their light from the three daylight bulbs above. They’re happy.

Let the soil dry out between waterings.

I don't keep these, but if you mount it and find that it doesn't have enough light, would it be possible to get plant lights? A bulb for an existing lamp or a clip on gooseneck light might give you just enough of a boost to keep the plant happy

They can definitely survive with lower light but you’ll get smaller leaves with longer spaces between them. If you’re alright with that then it’ll survive, just be less thick than with lots of light.

Also: planta says to water these way too often. Pinch the sides of a leaf toward each other and if they don’t want to bend inward then it doesn’t need water. I also find that they do well if the bottom half of their container is perlite and then the top half is a 50/50 mix of perlite and a good potting mix.
