# Struggling with root rot. I know the signs with mushy roots and stuff…

Struggling with root rot. I know the signs with mushy roots and stuff but is this the start of root rot? It doesn't easily just rinse off but I'm able to scrape it. First pic is what I'm talking about, second pic is scraping some off and in the second pic, the root on the very left is scraped completely off including the light brown under the darker soil/rot. The black on the roots are not slimy or mushy, it kind of looks like soil/coco coir kind of look (like, it's textured but not in an alarming way). I just think I get too scared of cutting off too many roots and I leave too much infected root when I repot my other plants. (I already cut off any rotting roots with this plant, just wanting some clarify if I need to scrape all this crap off)

The pics didn't post in order correctly but hopefully it still makes sense what I'm asking about

I did spray these roots with a 50/50 hydrogen peroxide water solution

It didn’t look like rot to me. Looks like soil was just stuck to the roots. I’d definitely stop messing with her ! lol I’m guilty of handling my “fancy” plants too much!!

Ugh so difficult!!! Is this what being a helicopter parent is like?! 😂😂 thank you! I didn't think it was, I feel like rot is obvious if it's black or brown and mushy, just have lost SO. MANY. ROOTS. already to root rot so trying to save these last remaining strong roots 😭

Ive never been able to scrape rot off so yep id say this is what being a helicopter parent is like 😂 you treated with hydro and I’d just say to put it in a chunky soil. Lots of aeration. If you keep removing it from medium it’ll shock it even more. I don’t know how much you’ve done to it already but I’d expect leaves to drop! Don’t treat it any different and leave it alone so it can acclimate!! Water as you know it needs it but the droopy leaves will be from you handling it! Almost certain!

I just repotted it and probably gonna try to put it in a spot in the house so I just forget about it...I'm expecting some of the leaves to drop so I'm prepping myself as much as I can for that mentally lol. When I was going through the roots, I realize the death plug sponge was still partially intact all the way to the bottom of the plants so I'm a bit suspicious that even though I was getting root rot off the other times, the rot was still harboring in areas I couldn't reach idk
