U need to change it more often or put an air stone in there. Water needs oxigen and if u r only changing it once a month is not getting any. I would cut up all the dead leaves and dead roots. Wash them w a mix of peroxide and water. Let it soak for an hr in it and then rinse. Let it dry for an hr and then place in clean water w a little bit of peroxide. My albo had root rot and I was able to stop it like that.

And try to gather rainwater or use distilled. It might help!

leaving it a day or boiling it and letting it cool is still fine tho. I don’t have access to either (don’t have equipment for rainwater) so just use those methods

FYI, my grocery sells gallons of distilled water for $1.50.

unfortunately leaving tap water to sit out does nothing for its chlorine content, nor does boiling the water. if you’d like to keep sensitive plants and cannot collect rainwater, i’d recommend filtering your tap water (like through a pitcher filter) and then adding a drop of aquarium water conditioner to dissolve any chlorines and chloramines.
distilled/reverse osmosis water that comes in plastic jugs from the grocery store is another option but one i advise against since it’s the most wasteful option and the most expensive.

Okay, thank you. I can collect rain water, so I’ll try that!!

I never use tap water on my plants. I don’t drink it so I wouldn’t give it to my plants either unless it’s filtered and then boiled so I rather use bottled water

I’ve never thought of using bottled water. The water that I use is already filtered so I will have to see if bottled or rain water works best!! Thank you!

I use spring water or distilled. They add minerals to purified drinking water. Not sure if that’s good for plants either
