# I have a fiddle leaf fig that I got from Offer Up for 10$ 2 months…

_Publicado por Dee el 2025-05-25_

I have a fiddle leaf fig that I got from Offer Up for 10$ 2 months ago. Since I’ve got it, it’s grown leaves that are 3x the size of the old ones. It’s leaning a bit and it also has these red spots on the leaves. Can anyone give me some recommendations on how to help with the leaning. I was thinking using a stake to help support it since I think the leaning is coming from it being top heavy with the new leaves. The red spots don’t seem like pests so I’m not too concerned but it’s my first time owning a fiddle leaf

Rotate the plant. The leaves grow in the direction of the light. It will lean if you don’t turn it regularly. I do mine a quarter turn every time I water. Yours will need a half turn to correct the growth.

Thank you!

The spots maybe rust starting. You may want to spray it with a fungicide or 1:3 dilution if peroxide

Definitely rotate, but also don’t be too gentle with it. Regularly shake it around a little. Let a fan blow on it sometimes. It needs some physical agitation in order for it to know to sturdy itself up more.

I need to start rotating it! Hopefully that helps. I usually leave the ceiling fan on high when I’m away at work so it’s moving around for about 8 hours

The red spots are edema. Nothing to worry about, just water when the pot is fully dry and you’ll see it less.
