They’re a really good beginner plant. Pretty forgiving. I have let mine dry out to an inch of their life, they turn mouse gray and get dry but as soon as I water them they bounce back.

Don’t over water, they do well at a kitchen window where the moisture from the dishwasher and sink can get to them, and have bright filtered light. They propagate by sending off little flower shoots that grow into baby spider air plants. Break them off when they’re a couple inches long and pot them up.

My oldest plant I own is a 27 year old spider I just can’t kill. She’s older than my house. Here’s a pic of one of her babies that got potted to the kitchen window.

What Becky said above is so true! I’ve also learned from experience with having multiple spider plants. The ones I left root bound seem to be much happier than the ones without. Don’t let it get too out of control but they like to be cozy!

The full size older plants grow very thick roots that store water. Let the soil dry out completely. The plant will look slightly limp when it needs water. The leaves will fold close, become thin/pale/brown when the plant is too dehydrated.

Give it bight indirect light or morning sunlight. Mine get morning light. I have many.

Regularly fertilize with diluted fertilizer to prevent fertilizer burns. I add SuperThrive Plant Vitamins with the fertilizer. 🪴🍀

Spider plants are pretty good plants! I’m struggling with mine staying up and not bending with the long limbs.
