Got this little guy. Can anyone tell me what kind of begonia it is? And any tips on caring for it?

Hiii!! It’s a begonia Rex. As for the exact name… there are too many to even try to make a guess. So care for this guy… high humidity but it has to be cold humidity, bottom water only when soil is dry (but do not let it sit dry for more than a day). Never, I repeat, never get the leaves wet. He actually should be sitting in a humidity dome for the next 3 days to a week till you slowly get him acclimated to your environment. Bright indirect light to some shade, if you do not have a grow light. These guys are finicky and you may do all of the above and still lose him. I wish you the best of luck. You got this.

At least you only have one. 😂 I bought 14 not realizing because “oh they’re so pretty”. Now I have a $250 curio cabinet specifically for them and a cool humidifier running 24/7. But if you can help him to survive you can make any plant survive. I have all the faith in you!

I have at least 4 Rex begonias in normal room humidity and they are fine.  
Bright light, medium water requirements, bottom water. Don’t get leaves wet

Definitely don’t get the leaves wet, I learned the hard way, however, mine survived and is making a comeback.😜

I would say that no plant absolutely requires that amount of care. Rex begonia’s can be a bit finicky but they aren’t extremely needy, make sure to not get too stressed out about it, plant care is supposed to be fun!

Every time I try to be honest with my struggles someone has to comment how wonderful they are with plants. I’m just trying to inform people that not all plants are easy and they will die without the proper care. I am happy that there are some people who have had zero struggles with their plants and it’s been all unicorns and rainbows. I have over 120 different kinds of plants and I am very passionate about each one of them, but I have struggled and if I can help someone to not go through those same struggles by sharing what I have had to do then for me that’s a win.
