# I'm not sure if spraying a plant with a bottle will damage it.…

I'm not sure if spraying a plant with a bottle will damage it. Humidifiers seem quite pricey, and I'm not really looking to buy new decor. If a humidifier is my only option, I don't want to spend over £20 on one, and it would have to be discreet. I have a gold dust croton, not sure if this changes anything. I'm new to this and have no clue what I'm doing. I have a few questions, Will spraying a plant with a bottle damage it?
2\. Can a humidifier be purchased for under £20 and still be effective and discreet?
3\. How does having a gold dust croton affect the plant care options?

Spraying plants can be largely ineffective and can possibly cause damage.

Humidifiers can be cheap and discreet. I’d also suggest thinking about a hygrometer to know what your current humidity even is. Also, is your plant telling you it needs more humidity? Humidifiers don’t have to be a part of your care. I’m sure there are plenty of plants that don’t mind low humidity.

I would assume most crotons have similar care.

Its leaves are crinkling, I have been told this happens because it needs more humidity

agree — i never mist. it’s more trouble than it’s worth.

another option is to skip it altogether! most plants really can just adapt to the normal humidity in your home. if you have some that really require an extra hit, a small handheld steamer that you’d use for clothing is a good option. i give my adansonii, as an example, as pass with that every once in a while. it’s also great for helping new leaves unfurl 😎😂 (and it kinda fun!)

My croton developed spider mites and misting is what kept them away. It seems to love it. I lightly mist at least one a week. I think as long as you don’t soak it, misting should be fine. No wrinkles!
