# I’ve been looking at this plant for most of the summer, knowing I had…

_Pubblicato da Lynda il 2024-10-04_

I’ve been looking at this plant for most of the summer, knowing I had to do something about it, since it had stems that were falling on the floor. Voilà… the dirty deed is finally done; what do you think? But, I do have two questions: how do I stabilize the moss pole; it doesn’t seem very sturdy and it’s pushed all the way down into the dirt. Also, does that, musty, sort of nasty smell, ever go away? I’m definitely not appreciating that,🤭!
Any comments would be greatly appreciated. TIA … 🤗💚🪴

PS. I forgot to ask, how often are you supposed to spray a moss pole, several times a day, daily, weekly??? I have no idea. TIA for any additional comments…🤗💚🪴

I just repotted a plant with a moss pole for the first time today…I have the same question about stabilizing.

Hopefully, somebody’s gonna come along and give us a hand! There’s a whole lotta Planta people smarter than I am; I bet they’ll have some great suggestions… 🤗💚🪴

I tie a piece of string to the pole and then tie it to the shelf above it. If there's not a shelf above it, I'll tack it to the wall or the ceiling.

For smaller poles, I usually wrap them around a metal plant stake support that's upside down in the dirt.

A metal plant stake; that’s a good idea. I’ll definitely give it a try, however, I’m a little uncertain exactly what you’re talking about. Do you just use a piece of metal, like a tent stake? I know that’s probably a silly question, but I’m not quite sure what a “metal plant stake support” is??? TIA for any clarification…

Not silly at all! There's a lot of plant stakes out there! I use these and put the circular part on the bottom of the pot, so the stake has a bigger base
