IME… that’s how I got thrips last summer. 😓 I had the window open (with screen) to give my plant babies those fresh summer breezes, and was rewarded with a thrips outbreak that nearly gave me a nervous breakdown. I’ve literally never done it without some kind of pest or fungus coming in, despite being a few floors up. And I know the pests aren’t coming in other ways. There’s a reason that my window plants have gotten fungus, thrips, and spider mites while the rest of my collection stays pristine. I love opening a window but finally accepting it’s not something I can do without SO many hours of pest control after. #### K님이 2025-07-08에 답변했습니다. I’d also note as someone with many variegated monstera that they’re more resilient than a lot of plants but not at all immune. If you do decide to test out the windows I’d move any important plants into another room first and wait 3-4 weeks before moving back. ### 9thFloorGreenHouse님이 2025-07-09에 댓글을 남겼어요. I’m up high but down wind and up draft from lots of trees. I am new to plants but over the years a few ladybugs 🐞 have blown in. I like the windows open so bugs might have to be dealt with.
