# Got this sad croton on clearance rack a few weeks ago (I’m a sucker…

_Publicado por Ayhud el 2025-08-08_

Got this sad croton on clearance rack a few weeks ago (I’m a sucker for those..). Repotted in tropical soil with perlite, sprayed roots which (didn’t seem to have root rot), and have been giving plenty of sun (natural and have tried a grow light). No sign of any pests since I got him.

Leaves are droopy, but not dried out. No dropping leaves. The diagnose feature has been very inconsistent about over vs under watering as the issue. I have a humidifier on the way in hopes that might help.

Any advice of how to revive him? My other croton is thriving and I am hoping to give this lil guy a chance too! Also open to propagating if that’s best (but never have with this plant before)

Thanks everyone!☺️

Too much water? Root rot is hard to manage.

This lil one has been a challenge, but might be turning up! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
I took off leaves, moved to smaller pot and rubber banded a plastic ziplock with slits as a makeshift humidity dome. Put under a grow light ~ 12 hrs a day. Most lightly every 2-3 days.

Two weeks later and the stem is more green and I am seeing little buds on the stem! Hoping it keeps going in this direction!

I have a croton question if you can help me… I’ve had a little one for 6 months now. He seems to be doing well (bright green leaves with a little color) but he has not grown at all! He’s lost a couple leaves as well. You said you have a thriving croton… do they just grow reallllly slowly? lol. I’d appreciate any advice you have!

Honestly I am a newb to crotons and have a lot to learn! I hear they really like humidity and bright indirect light. I have mine under a grow light for 12 hrs a day and near a humidifier. Just took the dome / bag off today to see if it’ll do okay 🤞🏻
Someone recommended I cut the leaves that are crispy / not doing well to focus growth on roots, stem and other leaves. Not sure if that helps at all!

I have mine in potting soil and water when the top is dry.
