# My living room front window faces southeast and definitely gets full…

_Publicado por Jeni Lyn el 2024-11-21_

My living room front window faces southeast and definitely gets full sun. I also have two northeast facing windows that the light meter reads as part sun, part shade. So, is the whole room full light bc of the SE window? Can I keep plants that like part sun, part shade towards the NE of the room? I so badly want to stop scorching plants! 🔥

Look into sheer plant curtains for your SE window. They diffuse light and make it less harsh for those bright-indirect plants :)

You beat me to it! It’s easy to cut the light just a hair. And frankly, I find the diffuse light coming through sheer curtains to be very pleasant for me, not just for plants!

You can put plants on the northeast window in the summer months assuming they are right on the window sill. They can benefit from early morning light. My wall of hoyas are on a northeast wall and window ledge. They got 3.5 hours of direct light, sometimes filtered by tree limbs later in the morning. Twelve hoyas bloomed on that outer wall including 5 that bloomed on the outer window ledge. None bloomed on the inner window ledge. Too much filtering from window screens and the slight tint of the glass blocked light. But, they did grow. All plants inside more than a foot from the inside window struggled without a grow light.
