# Philodendron Billie- should I prune or leave this leaf? My plant…

Philodendron Billie- should I prune or leave this leaf?

My plant doesn’t have any pests, roots are good (it is ready for a repot but has to wait until Saturday) and is putting out new growth. All in all it’s generally happy and I am learning! except this leaf. When I bought this plant, this leaf already had the first tear at the top as the original damage and overtime, It is just crumbling. Should I prune the leaf or leave it until it disintegrates on its own? I heard sometimes plants use these dying leaves to help new growth but not sure this leaf is maybe just wasting sunlight lol

I would prune it. It’s not doing any damage particularly to the plant, but pruning it will by no means harm the plant. It will, however, enable the plant to return the growing power it’s currently giving to sustain that leaf back into the plant, so it will be more likely to push out new growth sooner.

If its got more good leaves I'd chop it.

I’d just say chop that sucker off! Put it out of its misery and doing it will brighten your day!
ps. ( I know it’s not really a sucker…..just an expression.)
