Any idea what this is? I feel like it’s just soil or something but this is the second leaf my elephant ear has popped out since planting it from a bulb. I’ve noticed some fungus gnats but I’ve been treating the plant to get rid of them. Nothing crawling \& just flakes right off. Just curious though.

If it's not moving or making webs or anything else I wouldn't worry about it. Looks kind of normal to me. How are you treating for the gnats?

I’ve been spraying with neem oil. I did it every day for a week, just recently stopped \& haven’t seen any more gnats

Keep in mind the adult gnats lay eggs in moist soil at the top of your pot. If there are any eggs they will eventually hatch. You might want to put a little mosquito bites crumbled up into the top of the soil. You can also use other systemic pesticides. You can get yellow sticky traps to monitor the presence of fungus gnats also.

Hydrogen peroxide works as well.
