# Hi all! Can someone help me with my Jade 🥹 She started having brown…

_Geplaatst door Sage op 2024-09-17_

Hi all! Can someone help me with my Jade 🥹 She started having brown crispy tips on the very top leaves, and now she has black spots on her top leaves.
She’s in a south facing window, in espoma succulent and cactus soil, and I water her when she is completely dry and then some.
I will say she gets a LOT of sun during the day, so I’m wondering if she’s getting too much light?

Please help my jade 🥹

did you move her here fr somewhere with less light recently? you really can’t give her too much light especially not through a window. i’d just give her time to adjust.

it’s nearly impossible to kill a jade — they can bounce back from anything except overwatering

i think this plant looks really healthy (maybe a bit thirsty)

based on the growth pattern (leaf spacing) it looks like she used to be somewhere darker, so this all looks normal. I have a few jades - old ones too - I can send pics if you want proof of my experience 😂

Thank you SO much for your help!! I did in fact move her from a south facing window with tree blockage, to a south facing window with NO tree blockage. Do you know why she’s getting the black spots? I’ve read about etiolation, is that it? Also, should I move her to a more shady spot til she adjusts more?

I’d LOVE to see your jade plants - especially the old ones!

nope just leave her! she’ll adapt. i’m not worried about those spots at all. etiolation refers to plants stretching for the light. your plant was doing that, but you can see from how closely the new leaves are growing that she’s getting the light she wants now

Hahaha that’s so understandable , do you have cats ?

#### Sage antwoordde op 2024-09-17

I do, but they don’t touch my plants at all! So I’m assuming it must’ve been some sort of bug that came in through the window…

Fungal/bacterial infections and environmental stress cause black spots. Proper watering, air circulation, and humidity control are key

Agree, looks like a fungal infection

Did you figure it out

#### Sage antwoordde op 2024-09-18

I think I did!! I suspect a mix of overwatering and moving it to a much more sunny window ☺️

your plant looks really good. i think the spots are most likely edema from watering inconsistencies. i water my jade plants only when the bottom leaves are soft, but before the plant looks truly dehydrated. it may be helpful to pay attention to the state of your leaves when it’s time to water, to see if you need to adjust the frequency. also, be sure to saturate the soil fully at each watering, this will help your plant grow a sturdy root system.

Thank you so much, this is very helpful!! I’ll make sure to have consistent watering by following your advice 🪴
