# Does anyone know what this plant is? A lady in my Buy Nothing…

_Posted by Sarah Samurai on 2024-04-26_

Does anyone know what this plant is? A lady in my Buy Nothing Facebook group gifted it along with a few others she didn’t want, and she didn’t know what it was either.
I repotted it and found its bottom looked much like a bromiliad. I’ve had it over a month and it hasn’t changed much. More roots down below (I checked once), and the outer leaves browned and came off. I think it’s making new leaves inside but I can’t tell.

I had to look it up but it looks a lot like gladiolus!

But there’s no bulb! It’s an odd plant indeed.

How long does it take to unfurl? I feel like I should have seen some kind of change in its leaves since I got it. I’m pretty good with plants and I have several, yet this one is a complete mystery to me.

These are slow growers. The leaves can sometimes take weeks to unfurl. Give it bright light, but no direct sunlight. Mist the leaves every few days, especially the new growth to encourage unfurling. Let the soil dry out before watering.
