# HELP! I’ve had this plant for years and I’m seeing the first…

_Gepostet von Chelburn am 2025-11-06_

HELP! I’ve had this plant for years and I’m seeing the first fenestrations!! However. It is bare. So bare. I know if I cut from top it’ll promote growth and thickness. But I don’t want to cut the fenetrations off. How can I make it grow thicker??

I have chopped mine below the newest 1-2 nodes and propped that in water so now you’d have 2 plants. Just my .02 cents

Thank you!! From what you’re seeing in the photo, where exactly should I cut? I’m scared to cut too far or too high for roots to grow.

I’m used to nodes on a pothos- easy to find. This because it’s so bare it’s hard to find I think

It’s hard to see the pic well on my phone but id most likely cut above the green Velcro , below that V.

Could you point out where you’re seeing the fenestrations? From the photo, it looks like your Monstera isn’t quite at the stage where it would typically produce them yet. They usually develop once the plant is growing strongly and getting the right conditions, so I want to be sure we’re looking at the same thing 😊

There are two! The topmost leaf and down on the bottom left

Looks like a Monstera Borsigiana. The leaves are smaller than the typical Monstera Deliciosa leaf. They usually get split leaves very quickly when they are thriving. Plus, it grows faster than the deliciosa variety. It should be a bigger plant. I’m guessing the light and/or fertilizer are insufficient. I would add a grow light since it’s already at a window whether you propagate or not. Fertilize at least once a month in the growing seasons or use diluted fertilizer and fertilize more often. 🪴🍀

Looks like you need more light!!!! Mine gives off a new leaf every 30 days!!!! I keep her in the window!!
