# My boyfriend bought me this poinsettia from a good seller back at the…

My boyfriend bought me this poinsettia from a good seller back at the start of December, but it has struggled ever since I got it. I’ve got lots of plants which are thriving and I don’t know what I need to do with this one as I’ve never had a poinsettia before, don’t want to give up on it but not sure if I should.

It’s been in the window getting as many hours of indirect light as possible (there’s no good space for a grow light for it). My flat is very cold but I have kept it in a room which stays between 15-18° which I thought would be okay.

Any advice is welcome! Was thinking when it’s a bit warmer I could repot it to a smaller pot and ensure all the roots are healthy but want to avoid while it’s still so cold.

Before and after pics 😢

Poinsettia shed everything at the end of winter but tend to show new growth in the spring. I’ve had one for 3 years and it’s currently losing all its leaves, but I know it’ll sprout new ones soon.

Poinsettias shed leaves when under stress. It’s not a sign of dormancy. Stress can come from abrupt changes in temperature. Overwatering and under watering can cause leaf drop as well as insufficient light. They need bright indirect light for at least 8 hours.
