# i’m a new plant owner \& i just got this Scindapsus Pictus ‘Exotica’ i…

i’m a new plant owner \& i just got this Scindapsus Pictus ‘Exotica’  
i placed it next to this door that is south facing. does anyone know if this is too bright of light? also the plant seems to be a bit crowded in this pot. i can barley water or inspect it bc it’s so full. any suggestions?

Is there ever direct sun on this plant and if so for how many hours per day?

Regarding repotting, when did you bring it home? If less than a month ago, I’d wait to repot. What size is the current pot?

i didn’t see any direct sun. maybe like an hour if any. i did repot when i brought it home yesterday due to the lady at the store saying to 😅 i used a soil - orchid bark - perlite mixture.

I’d say it’s probably ok then with the placement. It’s likely in SHOCK a) coming home with you and b)repotting so soon! It may decline slightly, but that’s normal. Keep an eye on it, water when DRY. And give it a few weeks to get used to your home. Congrats on being a new plant parent!!!

You can prune some of the leaves if it’s too full. I would just wait a few weeks as it’s adjusting to its new home and repot.

Then propagate to grow another plant 🙂 Just don’t cut off more than 1/3 of the leaves to prevent stressing the plant.
