# Hello Friends! This is my first post here! Incredibly grateful to you…

Hello Friends! This is my first post here! Incredibly grateful to you all for helping each other ✨ My mint plant was drying and almost dead. Was left outside in the cold unfortunately 😓 On the bright side, the plant is growing again indoors, under artificial light. Many new leaves are growing. But I don't know how to propagate a mint plant. As you can see in the picture, many stems has dried up and I had to cut them off. Your guidance will help this baby grow. Thank you!

I just looked it up and this is what I found I hope it helps

It's easy to propagate Mint. No matter the season, simply snip a stem off the mother plant and stick it in water. The plant will develop roots and new foliage within weeks. Replant the new greenie once the roots reach about 2-3 inches (5-8 cm). It's also possible to keep the cutting in water indefinitely, as the plant can grow in plain old water for many years.

Mint is a thriver. Mine completely freeze in the winter outside, and cone back in spring. You can just take cuttings with nodes, and toss them on the top of the soil and they will often root perfectly. Clipping them back to propogate often encourages the plant to get bushier too

Yeah it always comes back and it can be invasive I wouldn’t worry to much

That's a relief to hear. Thank you so much 😊

I second the invasive part. If U don't want it on your lawn, keep it away from soil on the ground. We've had peppermint growing on the side of our house since forever, and a raised bed was not enough to keep the sweet mint contained so we have to pull them out in the summertime a lot.

Any kind of mint is definitely invasive! I have found that it works best to keep my mint plants in a pot, so I choose a pot according to how large I want my mint plants to grow. By doing this, you can easily (hopefully) keep mint babies from propagating in your beds and lawn. Good luck!
