That horrific moment when you realize that your new beautiful leaf that was coming in has stem rot because you somehow overwatered your plant! I feel so devastated!

oof I have been there and it stinks! however it still very much looks salvageable. you didn’t ask for advice on how to fix an overwatered plant so I won’t give any unsolicited, but I’m happy to share what I’ve done before to save my plants in this situation if you’d like.

I will also add that sometimes the leaf looks better than expected once it unfurls; sometimes the variegated parts of these plants turn brown more quickly than they would on otherwise green leaves. Best of luck to you and your plant!

Ahhh sorry! This is upsetting lol from the pics, the plant looks too small for that pot size. I’m thinking overwatering could happen easily with that much soil and probably lesser roots. If you can, try repotting into something smaller and I’m sure it’ll heal right up

Thank you! Always welcome advice! I did figure out I upgraded her pot to big when I repotted her last and down sized her yesterday. Roots looked so healthy and were really big under that soil! Must have been my rationale when I put her in that pot! But now she’s all nice and snuggled in a smaller pot fingers crossed she becomes happy again!

Give the leaf time to unfurl, it could be totally fine!

I agree with Kingbetes - that pot looks too big, downsizing will greatly reduce risk of root rot. Also, are those marbles mixed into the soil??

Yes, thank you so much. She’s already downsized pot wise. The marbles were just for decoration and didn’t cover all of the soil so that way it would dry out and not stay moist.

Just an update! I think it is going to be the variation part that rotted! I will love it no matter what! Just so happy it’s not the whole leaf!
