It’s a geranium. That’s the biggest one I’ve ever seen! They are usually sold in hanging baskets.

It has the potential to be a beautiful plant. I recommend clearing out the grass and weeds. Add mulch under and around it. Fertilize in the warmer months. Good luck!🌺

Oh it’s much bigger ! Lol it’s in an old bathtub. Don’t know how long it’s been in there, my grandma has had this house since 1969 ! So who knows loll, this is all of her. She definitely could use a trimming 😄

Any ideas on how to propagate it ? Or is that possible lol

Oh my!

You can take a cutting and propagate in soil. Take a 6” or smaller cutting. Remove all leaves that will go into the soil. Leave 2 or 3 leaves at the tip. Place in well draining soil in a small plastic nursery pot. Water when the top one inch of soil is dry. Place in a warm well lit location out of direct sunlight. Roots should form in a week or two. Fertilize after roots develop.

The faster way to get new plants is to check the tub for individual plants formed from seeds. This will thin out the tub, allowing for side branches to grow, and produce more blooms.

Oh wow awesome thanks so much ! 😇

This is a monster geranium! Propagation by division would definitely be the easiest.
Also, There is a distinct line down the stem which makes it easy to snap the spent flowers off. Doing so regularly will encourage tons of new blooms. You don’t even have to wait until they are all the way dried out. I find it satisfying.

She’s a beast 😅 thank you ! She’s just kinda been doing her thing but if I can prop her and get some babies that would be fun 😁

### Mara commented on 2024-06-12

For sure, try it out. What could be more special than propagating from your gma’s plants ☺️

#### Bri replied on 2024-06-13

Of course ! 😇 I’ll be doing this soon 😊

That is just incredible. Lucky you, I love red geraniums. I had no idea that some geraniums were perennials until I planted some by my butterfly bush. That was 10
Years ago. Here’s a pic I took yesterday. Well that’s half of it. Guess Planta won’t let you put more than one pic in a comment.
I live in Southern NH sure wish I could come get some of that gorgeous geranium!😉😂💕

Oh my gosh! I’ve never seen a geranium that big! They are my favorite. I agree that it is satisfying to snap the spent blooms. My husband thinks I’m crazy for loving how they smell. 🤷‍♀️
Thanks for sharing!

#### Bri replied on 2024-06-13

lol I like how they smell too ! She’s a big girl 🤣 I’ve never snapped the spent blooms so I’ll have to try that 🤔

May I ask what part of the world you’re in? I can’t grow them in my neck of the woods, I think it’s too hot in the summer months, but they grew like crazy up until May. Maybe I’m just doing something wrong…

#### Bri replied on 2024-06-13

I’m in Northern California ! 😁 it gets pretty hot here also, it’s been close to or in 100s on a few days as of late 😅 maybe something you just need to plant sooner in the year ? I couldn’t honestly tell you I don’t know how long these babies have been here lol

Wow. Well, keep it up. It’s obviously happy!
