# Hi friends! I am moving states soon and trying to figure out how to…

Hi friends! I am moving states soon and trying to figure out how to get my plants there in one piece? I will not have a car so it’s looking like the only option is to ship all of my plants and hope (not my decision unfortunately, and if it were up to me I would just drive each leg of the move myself). Have any of you shipped live plants before, and if so how did you do it? Did they survive the journey? 🥲

I’m planning on rehoming/gifting a couple of plants that I know will do better here than there (that’s the other thing— completely different climates), but I’d like to keep as many of my kids intact as possible since I am way too attached to let all of them go 🥲🥲🥲

Not sure if this will help cause it’s what a company does with their succulents when they travel from California. They put the paper zigzag type kind stuffed around all the plants and leafs. The best way to describe the paper is the stuff you put in the Easter basket. 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ I hope this helps, safe travels!!

I’ve ordered a few plants from nurseries in different states and they seemed to be okay! I think the key is faster shipping and warm packs if it’s cold. Also put fragile stickers all over the box 😅
A lot of nurseries use poly fill (like pillow stuffing) to cushion all the leaves. They tape butcher paper over the soil so it doesn’t get everywhere.
There’s also a sweet spot of watering your plants a day or two before shipping so they’re not wet, but won’t dry out during the trip.
I’m sure there’s some tips on youtube about shipping plants too!
Hope this helps ☺️

Yes, even if I drive, I still pack them like im shipping them. Get some butcher/craft paper, saran wrap, masking tape, and poly fill. Wrap the pot in saran wrap to keep in moisture if its going to be hot. If there's space between the top of the pot and dirt, fill with either poly filter (drier) or moss. Then lay down the paper, put polyfil around the leaves to give some cushion. Then wrap /roll the butcher paper around the plant, folding both ends in. You want it tight to stop movement, but obviously not constricting. Then put in some crumpled paper around the edges and bottom, then lay the plants in.

If its going to be more than a few days , try and time watering them. As you want them to not dry out. But the wetter they are the heavier the box

If you want to really go hard, some phase 22 packs will help modulate the box temp
