I think it actually looks like it’s etiolating (growing long and spindly). Can you give it more light? This will help it grow healthier and fuller.

Yes I can! Will do!

It looks like it’s in a pretty large pot for the size of the plant. The rule of thumb is to opt for a pot only about 1-2 inches larger in diameter to the width of the plant’s root ball. Keeping your aloe in a pot that’s much larger than it needs can leave it sitting in a lot of moist soil for much longer than it can handle, and could lead to root rot. I’d recommend repotting it in a well-draining cactus and succulent mix into a much smaller pot. (I recommend Espoma’s Organic Cactus and Succulent Mix, and would personally avoid Miracle Grow’s soil, especially if you live in a more humid environment)

If I don’t have cactus mix on me right now would it be okay to use regular extra drainage all purpose potting mix (not miracle gro)?

Possibly, but aloes are pretty prone to root rot without chunky, well-draining soil. You could try it if you’ve got a fair amount of perlite and orchid bark chips or something to add to it, or you could wait until the next time you’re able to pick up some cactus mix to repot it. It’s up to you 👍

I kept mine near a window, I think they do best in the sun, water it every week sometimes every two… it’s just a waiting game
