# Okay so me and my husband have had this plant for while, and about a…

_Lagt ut av Rivahflow den 2025-08-13_

Okay so me and my husband have had this plant for while, and about a week ago my husband accidentally hit off the top part of it (which you can see). I was just wondering if any succulent plant owners think that it’s going to survive or if there is anything I should do to help it thrive. I will say it does have 2 little babies growing out of it so I think it should?

Yes it will be fine you can prob those babies but it will take a while for them to get roots

May I ask what you mean by prob (did you mean like probe)? This is my first time having plants and I’m learning!

Propagate its wear you grow another plant from a piece of a plant

May I ask how you would do that?

I have one that has just started to root you want to remove the baby really carefully and stick it in soil and keep moist but I would not recommend probing a baby it’s hard and takes a while if your new I would suggest using a leaf cutting and would wait until the babies get a little bigger

Thank you so much I greatly appreciate your help!

Doing it from a leaf cutting is quite different though

Your plant should still survive, especially since it’s got two little babies growing! You can prop (propagate) those babies once they’re a bit bigger by gently removing them and letting the cut ends callus over for a couple of days in a dry, shaded spot. After that, pop them into well-draining soil and they should start rooting.

I don’t think they are what I would call babies. I think it’s creating another branch or side plant where the damage occurred. In the pic, the plant lost a leaf. Now it’s creating a side plant. They usually will not develop roots unlike actual baby plants that grow along the base and develop their own set of roots. Then they can be cut off and grown as another plant.
