# I’m dying here! My plants had a brutal winter after flourishing…

I’m dying here! My plants had a brutal winter after flourishing outside on balcony during the summer months. I know it has to be the lack of sunlight during the fall and winter. I stocked up on grow lights, having them on for 12 hours at times, but just didn’t help. Any advice would be deeply appreciated.

Show pictures of the plants. It’s difficult to give advice without seeing the issues.

I’m new to this app, and it seems it will only allow me to upload one photo at a time. I’ll give you a brief summary on my citrus.  
First photo: Purchased a Lemon and a Lime tree late spring 2023. Potted both trees outside where they stayed till October.  
Second Photo: Shows placement and lighting once inside.  
Third photo: Trees almost double in size while outside.  
Fourth photo: Both plants start shedding their leaves until tree is bare and dries completely out. Leaves never discolored, just fell off. They hung in there for a few months.

I wish I had spent more money on them from the beginning. So don’t get the strips or anything purple, I have a junk drawer full of them 😩

Did you bring them inside for the winter? Sunlight, water, humidity, and temperature are the main components for them to do well

I kept all those variables in mind. The trees were away from the window, you can see in the photo above, thus the need for the grow light, but I never knew if I was helping or hurting. Needless to say , I lost both trees 😭. They were spectacular! When I mist them, they would give off such strong citrus aroma. The leaves were a dark vibrant green, an imposing aura. I am planning to try it again, and maybe reconfigure the soil.  
Forgot to mention, when I disposed of the trees, I found these lovelies in the soil, which I believe when not over abundant, can help the growth of a plant
