I’m moving in a few weeks. Opinions. Tips \& tricks welcome. Overall it’s a short trip (170miles) but y’all know how some of these can be. Any suggestions on preparing them, moving them , \&/or helping them settle??

water them a couple days before the move, treat any pests and trim dead leaves. wrap the bigger plants with blankets or clothes to protect the branches and leaves. the smaller ones can be wrapped in bubble wrap or newspaper. make sure they are packed in a way that they won’t tip over, the smaller ones can go into a box and you can fill the spaces with more newspaper or packing peanuts. try to avoid leaving them in the trunk (if you’re driving) but also try to leave them in a shaded area. drive carefully, to minimize movement. once you get there, immediately unpack the plants and adjust them to their new climate slowly. good luck!

Thanks for the preparation tips. When to water them was something I was wondering about

of course! you can water them 1-2 days before the move, if you’re moving on a hot day then i’d say a bit closer to ensure they stay hydrated.

Awesome advice from Lily, I’d also cling wrap and tape around the base of the plants to limit soil spill from the inevitable plant falling over or even plant dominos during a sudden stop. For those really delicate plants or even your moss pole ones, I’d try to find a seat they can go in by themselves so they don’t get smooshed or have broken leaves. If you’re planning on stopping anywhere overnight, as long as it’s a safe area, I’d crack a few windows ever so slightly to get some airflow. Or, buy a small desktop fan to turn on in the vehicle. Good luck on your move and hope the new place enjoys your lovely collection!

Luckily they won’t need to stay in the car overnight \& i forgot about cling wrap, thanks!!

No advice, but had to share that for a second, I thought you were having a moving sale and got really excited. Good luck on the move!
