# Good morning! Can anyone help me with my Zig Zag plant? I think it is…

_Publicado por Amy el 2024-06-26_

Good morning! Can anyone help me with my Zig Zag plant? I think it is aka Devil’s Backbone; Variagata, specifically.
I have had it for almost 2 years and it’s slowly sinking. It has lost so many leaves-they used to be plentiful and pink \& green in color. It also stays wet for such a long time. A month or so, I’d say, even though it suggests water once per week.
Should I replant it? (Have already done so once) Move it somewhere else? It is currently outside on my covered back porch, east facing, no direct sun. I’m in zone 8b.
She was a gift and one of my faves. I’m letting her down. Please help! TIA.

This plant is a succulent and needs a lot of light. If it stayed wet for an extended period you may have root rot now. You could check the roots, give it a lot more sun/light, take some cuttings and propagate to start the plant over.

Yes I would definitely replace the soil with something more well-draining. Check for root rot

Thanks for that info. I have no idea how to propagate but I’ll google it.

I have more success with water propagating mine. Although it takes a very long time before roots develop so don’t fret just keep refreshing the water. The leaves will grow back once it is happy again.

Oh! Good to know. I haven’t had a to. If success with propagating other succulents but I didn’t know to try them in water. 👍 (we need a green emoji)
