i’m not totally sure so please take others’ words of advice too, but i think it’s probably okay to an extent! i live in the PNW and a lot of maples and conifers here have mosses living at their base and are doing generally well

I’m also in the PNW, so hopefully that’s the case. The maple looks healthy so far.
